In addition to hearing from our presiding bishop, Elizabeth A. Eaton, registration covers four days of Grace Gathering programming, which includes:

  • Keynote address
  • God’s Grace in Action Afternoon (experiential learning)
  • Presentations by special guests
  • Workshops
  • Access to all ELCA Churchwide Assembly plenaries
  • Lunch on Thursday and Friday
  • Celebratory banquet on Friday night

If you usually attend the Churchwide Assembly as a visitor, please consider registering for the Grace Gathering this year to fully participate in this unique opportunity.

Meals

What meals are included in the Grace Gathering registration?

Registration includes lunch on Thursday and Friday and dinner on Friday night. When you register, you will have the opportunity to note any dietary needs that you may have.

Can I register for meals for other days during the Churchwide Assembly before the Grace Gathering begins?

There will be an opportunity starting mid-April to register for additional meals not included in your Grace Gathering registration, should you be arriving before Wednesday evening. These meals would be the same meals the Churchwide Assembly voting members receive.

Hotels:

Grace Gathering participants

You may make your hotel reservation at this time for the Grace Gathering. A limited number of discounted hotel rooms are available at the New Orleans Marriott and Sheraton New Orleans, located across the street from one another. There will be complimentary shuttles running from these two hotels to and from the The Ernest N. Morial Convention Center continually throughout the days of the Churchwide Assembly and Grace Gathering. Some evening activities may take place at the hotels, but Grace Gathering participants are invited to all evening programming regardless of hotel accommodations.

Note: Registration for the ELCA Churchwide Assembly will be in the spring of 2016, for those with obligations to the Churchwide Assembly. You should not register for the Grace Gathering if you are serving in one of the following roles:

  • Churchwide Assembly voting member
  • Advisory member
    • ELCA Church Council member
    • executive assistants to the presiding bishop
  • Non-voting member
    • Specially appointed faculty resource person/teaching theologian
  • Regional coordinator
  • Appointed resource member
    • bishop-elect taking office post assembly
