Global Mission
The ELCA walks with more than 80 companion churches across the globe to participate in God's reconciling mission through proclamation and service.

Where We Serve and How You Can Help
As part of the Lutheran World Federation, the ELCA joins 142 member churches in 79 countries, walking with 70 million Lutherans to grow the church and participate in God’s reconciling work.
ELCA Global Mission personnel serve in more than 40 countries, their service ranging from months to several years. Opportunities include serving as pastors, teachers, health workers and development specialists.
Give now to help grow the Lutheran church worldwide. Your gifts send missionaries and volunteers, train leaders, start new churches, and strengthen existing ones, possible only through your generosity.
Growing Leaders, Building Connections
ELCA companion synod relationships connect Lutheran churches globally with ELCA synods and congregations, expressing communion with more than 140 member churches. All 65 synods have at least one companion, creating relationships that deepen ministry through shared global challenges and perspectives.
The ELCA YAGM program invites adults ages 21-35 into a transformative year of international service. As they walk alongside global companions, volunteers are shaped by the witness of neighbors and share in the ministries of partner churches and organizations.
For 35 years, the International Leaders Program has partnered with companion churches and institutions to equip leaders for mission and ministry. ILP develops leaders through scholarships, camp counselor opportunities, mentoring, exchanges and workshops.
