Your gifts to the ELCA support and sustain the people, congregations, synods and ministries working around the world to realize the hope-filled future God promises. From supporting survivors of disasters to empowering girls to go to school to inspiring young leaders, this work is possible only because of the generosity of people such as you.

When you give directly to the ELCA churchwide organization, you help more people experience the difference God’s grace and love in Christ make for all people and creation. The same is true when you give to your local congregation. Most of your offering stays with your congregation to fund its vital work, but a portion — about 5% on average — becomes Mission Support, given by your congregation to your synod. Synods choose to give a portion of this to the ELCA churchwide organization. Because of Mission Support, our hands can do God’s work in more places than any one person or congregation could alone.
