ELCA GrantMaker

The ELCA provides grants and scholarships to support the ministries of individuals, congregations, synods, partners and companion churches. This support is an important way the ELCA engages in mutual ministry and accompanies neighbors in the United States and around the world.

ELCA GrantMaker is the ELCA churchwide organization’s web-based portal for applying for grants or scholarships and managing reporting expectations in one place. Applicants for grants or scholarships must register with ELCA GrantMaker. Applicants can be individuals applying on behalf of themselves or representatives applying on behalf of a church or organization. ELCA GrantMaker works best with a Google Chrome browser.

In ELCA GrantMaker, you will be able to:

  • Apply for grants or scholarships;
  • Upload documents to your application;
  • Track the status of your application;
  • Sign grant or scholarship agreements if awarded;
  • Submit reports and/or evaluations; and
  • Propose changes to your project.

To learn more about how to use ELCA GrantMaker, you can access training documents and videos in the links to the right. For new users, the registration quick start guide is the best place to start.

Each grant or scholarship has specific eligibility criteria and access to some grants and scholarships is by invitation only. You can learn more about the criteria for each grant or scholarship by visiting ELCA GrantMaker. If you have questions about ELCA GrantMaker or your specific grant or scholarship, please contact the administrator of your grant or scholarship or submit an online contact form. Please note the grant or scholarship you are interested in your message.

Grants and scholarships from the ELCA are made possible only through the generous gifts of individuals, congregations and synods. If you would like to support this work, or know someone that would, please visit and share ELCA.org/give.
