Filled With Good Things
After a year when neighborhoods across the United States have lived in fear and increasing economic hardship, ELCA World Hunger invites you to spend Advent with your neighbors. Strengthen your neighborhoods, make new neighbors, see your longtime neighbors in new ways, and expand your understanding of who neighbors can be. While you’re at it, why not sprinkle in some joy?
Inspired by Mary’s Magnificat, ELCA World Hunger’s Advent theme is “Filled With Good Things,” an invitation for all of us to strengthen our relationships with our neighbors by sharing our abundance. This year’s Advent resources provide tools for your community to celebrate those you are connected to, near and far, and to strengthen your bonds.

“Stocking the Streets” Bags
Stocking the Streets is an effort by ELCA World Hunger and your community to care for all our neighbors, some of whom lack a roof over their heads. A Stocking the Streets bag includes the items most frequently requested by individuals facing homelessness. Here are suggested items to include in your bags:
- First aid kits

- New socks
- Travel-sized rain poncho
- Hand warmers
- Restaurant gift card
- Flashlight with batteries
- Preloaded transit card
- Resealable plastic bags
- Emergency blanket
- New underwear
- Homemade snacks
