Support Young Adults in Global Mission

We are a church that is a catalyst, convener and bridge builder.

That’s why every year the ELCA provides young adults the opportunity to grow in their faith and accompany our global neighbors through our Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) program.

Every year, young adults ranging in age from 21 to 29, accept a call into a life-changing year of service in communities around the world. During this year, the young adults engage in relationships of mutuality, interdependence, solidarity and trust. To learn more about this program, click here.

Since its inception, the program has grown from just 10 volunteers serving in one country to more than 85 serving in ten country programs (Argentina/Uruguay, Australia, Central Europe, Jerusalem and the West Bank, Madagascar, Mexico, Rwanda, Senegal, and the United Kingdom). Your gifts help support and expand this program so that more young adults can take part in this program. There are over 800 Young Adults in Global Mission alumni, many of whom have taken on significant leadership roles in church and society.

No matter where or how they serve, every one of our Young Adults in Global Mission needs your prayers, support and gifts to succeed in their year of service. On average, it costs about $15,000 to provide one young adult missionary with training, airfare, a small living allowance, health insurance and simple room and board for a year. That’s just $40 a day to invest in empowering young leaders through life-changing global service.
