Patricia E. “Pat” Dever, director of church building consultants with the Mission Investment Fund of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA), died suddenly Feb. 19. She was 68 years old. Funeral services will be held Feb. 28 at 11 a.m. at Rejoice Lutheran Church in Geneva, Ill.

Dever began her employment with the ELCA in 1991. As a church building consultant, she travelled across the country, working with the ELCA’s nearly 10,000 congregations to develop plans for growth and building.

“As we walk together through this, let’s pray for Pat’s family and for the Mission Investment Fund team. And let’s remember the promise of the resurrection,” said ELCA Presiding Bishop Elizabeth A. Eaton, in an email to ELCA churchwide staff.

“All of us at the Mission Investment Fund are mourning the loss of Pat Dever,” said Eva Roby, president and CEO of the Mission Investment Fund. “Pat was extremely dedicated to the work we do in helping build churches. As the Mission Investment Fund’s representative, she visited countless congregations over the years, helping them create building plans to best carry out their mission and ministry. Pat was instrumental in helping to build this church that she loved so dearly. She will be missed by many. We are keeping Pat and her family in our thoughts and prayers.”

Dever was born Dec. 22, 1945, in Germantown, Pa. She is survived by four siblings and many nephews and nieces.
