The World Council of Churches (WCC) is an ecumenical fellowship of churches founded in 1948. It brings together 352 member churches from all over the world, including Orthodox, Anglican, Baptist, Lutheran and Reformed denominations, to promote Christian unity in faith, witness, and service for a just and peaceful world.

Job Description:

The Ecumenical Disability Advocates Network (EDAN) Fellow will:

  • Assist in the establishment and maintenance of network of faith-based experts, professionals, practitioners, researchers, and organizations working on trauma healing and mental well-being.
  • Help promote a Campaign of Hope and Well-being, especially aimed at youth.
  • Assist in the preparation and promotion of fact sheets on mental health.
  • Support the formation of an EDAN Youth Network as well as engaging social media presence to the work.

Required Skills/Lived Experience:

  • Appropriate training and/or directly related experience in one or more of the following areas: data collection, programme interpretation and communication, event planning and logistics. Experience with diverse constituencies is preferred.
  • A working knowledge of Christian theology and knowledge and experience of the WCC/ELCA and/or the wider Christian community in the United States/world.
  • Ability to engage effectively in cross-cultural programme planning and team building.
  • Familiarity with Christian stewardship, humanitarian aid, development, and justice issues.
  • Ability to present written information effectively and clearly.
  • Experience of using Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
  • Exceptional commitment to timeliness; excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple, diverse projects simultaneously and under time pressure; ability to prioritize projects; ability to work independently.
  • Appreciation of the mission, vision, and values of the WCC.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear, use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone.
