Through the Service & Justice unit, the ELCA Churchwide Organization fosters and facilitates this church’s engagement in service and promotes efforts to call and act for justice. It engages in mission, service, and justice in accompaniment with churches and organizations in other countries; serves as the means through which churches in other countries engage in mission to this church and society; engages with communities, coalitions and networks, congregations, and synods in service and justice work within the territorial jurisdiction of this church; and provides guidance to members on matters of social justice.
This position is responsible for supporting the planning and coordination of the 50th anniversary of the ELCA World Hunger. This includes working alongside ELCA staff in conducting historical research, communicating with grant partners, gathering and synthesizing information and organizing data related to the ELCA World Hunger program. The fellow is also expected to perform logistic and administrative tasks for specific events and production of materials.
- Assist in the development of a cohesive message and a new brand tag line for the ELCA World Hunger.
- Facilitate in collecting and sharing stories and data on the impact of ELCA World Hunger in the US And around the world.
- Collaborate with the Development team (which includes Mission Funding Directors) as they develop an appeal strategy for the next three years.
- Coordinate in developing / updating the accompaniment model for the new generation
- Document steps in a more cohesive and impactful grantmaking – with a focus on equity grantmaking.
- Together with DevComm, assist in the development of new resources – digital, interactive, international and aimed for smaller groups / home where worship occurs.
