Description:  Congregations can unwittingly create legal issues and liabilities through inattention to basic requirements and details related to corporate status, taxes, property, insurance and abuse prevention. Many of these issues can be prevented by using an ELCA-prepared checklist of key items for congregations to address. Join us for a free webinar where the ELCA legal staff will discuss the checklist and best legal practices for congregations. This webinar will be of particular interest to rostered ministers and lay congregational leaders and staff, including congregation council members and officers, church administrators, and pastors and deacons.

How Do I Connect to the Webinar?
After registering for the webinar, you’ll receive a confirmation email. A few days before the webinar, you’ll receive another email with information on how to connect. Plan on joining the webinar about 15 minutes before the start time (noon, Central time). If it's close to the webinar start time and you don't see the opening slide, try refreshing your browser so you see the started webinar.

How can I Hear the Audio?
Audio for this webinar is delivered through the speakers or headset on your computer or tablet. If you can’t hear the audio, open a second browser window and test your audio with a known source (e.g. www.npr.org). Check to make sure your speakers aren’t muted; adjust the volume level.

How Do I Ask a Question?
Enter your question in the “Skype Q & A” panel on the webinar site. For laptop and desktop participants, this should appear on the right side of your screen, next to the webinar slides. For tablet users, the “Skype Q & A” panel may appear below the slides. Your question will go to the webinar moderator, so you won’t see all the questions from other participants. We probably won’t get to all questions. If you’d like a response after the webinar, include your email address with the question. If you have questions after the webinar, write to Thomas.Cunniff@ELCA.org.

How Can I get Help Connecting?
Send an email to Paul.Edison-Swift@ELCA.org describing any difficulty you’re having with connecting to the webinar. Before writing: try a different web browser to see if that helps; try reloading the webinar page; if the webinar hasn’t started yet, note that the webinar begins at Noon, Central Time.

How Do I Watch A Recording of the Webinar?
A link to the webinar recording will be sent via email to everyone who registered to attend. You may also write to Thomas.Cunniff@ELCA.org to request that link and password. If you tuned in late to the webinar, when the broadcast has ended you can press the play button in the webinar window and watch the beginning of the recording right away.
