Growing Stewards

What is the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word "stewardship?" Budgets and spreadsheets? Money? Pledge cards? What about love?

The ELCA is a church that is energized by lively engagement in our faith and life, and we have an important message to share: stewardship is about so much more than money – stewardship is about love.

That’s why the ELCA developed "Stewards of God’s" Love, a new resource you can use for doing year-round stewardship ministry in your congregation. Rooted in a holistic, biblically based approach to stewardship, "Stewards of God’s Love" challenges all Christians to reimagine the ways in which they steward God’s resources — time, talents and treasures — in response to God’s  commandment to love God and our neighbors.

It is designed to equip you with themed activities, Bible verses, best practices and new ideas to ignite year-round stewardship in your congregation. It also features real-world examples of congregations and leaders from around the country who are faithful stewards not only in their worship but in all aspects of their lives.

Whether you’re new to stewardship or have been leading a committee for years, have lead a large congregation or a small worshiping community in your home, you can use this guide to renew your congregation’s stewardship ministry or simply to find a few new insights for growing stewards.

Are you ready to learn more about this new way of doing stewardship?

If you are the stewardship chairperson in your congregation, look for a copy of "Stewards of God’s Love" that will be mailed to your congregation in the weeks ahead.
