The Gathering welcomes youth entering grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 in the fall of 2015, and 2015 high school graduates.
Soft registration for the 2015 ELCA Youth Gathering is now open! Each congregation should designate one primary adult leader, who will attend the Gathering and will be responsible for coordinating their youth group’s registration. Primary adult leaders may begin entering Gathering participant information into the ELCA’s registration database in preparation for submission on Oct. 15, 2014. On Oct. 15, when registration officially opens, leaders can simply upload the information they have completed and they will be registered. Don’t forget this second step!
The registration fee is $325 per person, but that will increase to $375 after January 15, 2015. Once registration officially opens on October 15, you’ll be instructed to mail a $150 (per person) non-refundable deposit to the Gathering’s lock-box. We ask that you send one check per congregation, and make sure to include your congregation’s ID number on the memo line. Your remaining balance is due by May 15, 2015. Hotel assignments and accompanying instructions will be uploaded to your congregation’s account in February. Your primary adult leader will access that information and send rooming lists, along with a deposit, directly to the hotel on or after March 15.
We anticipate congregational groups will be registering by the thousands, so take advantage of this opportunity to collect the information you’ll need to be part of this grand, faith-forming experience. Registration remains open until May 15, 2015, or when we reach capacity.
Every congregation has an account in the Gathering’s registration database. Primary adult leaders can add people, make substitutions or even cancel a participant (remember that the $150 deposit is non-refundable, so find a substitute if at all possible!) via their congregational account. May 15 is the last day for making any changes to your group, and all registration payments must be postmarked by this date.
You need to know your congregation’s unique five-digit ID number to register. We have sent an email to your pastor or youth ministry professional reminding them of the number. You can also get this number from your congregation’s administrative assistant or your Gathering synod coordinator.
The primary leader’s email address, along with the congregational ID number, is the key that unlocks a congregation’s registration account. The Gathering uses congregational accounts as the primary vehicle to communicate with primary leaders. Primary leaders should check their accounts periodically to learn about their hotel assignment and daily program rotation schedule, including their group’s Proclaim Justice (community service) experience.
Primary leaders should bring a cellphone with them to the Gathering as an added safety measure. Your cellphone number is required for registration but will only be used in an emergency.
MYLE and DAYLE
There are two pre-events, the Multicultural Youth Leadership Event (MYLE) and the Definitely-Abled Youth Leadership Event (DAYLE), taking place July 12-15, 2015. Registration for either of these events is $175, and congregations register for them through their Gathering registration. More information about these events can be found here.
