It takes a special talent to hold the attention of 30,000 high school students and adults in a venue like Ford Field. The planning team that dreams, designs and develops the experience of the mass gathering each night and worship on Sunday morning works closely with youth and adults throughout the ELCA. Prayer and reflection are part of the discernment process for the planning team as they seek to choose relevant, faithful, engaging Gathering speakers whose stories and experiences inspire high school youth to enter more deeply into their lives of faith. It is always the intention of the planning team to invite youth into a deeper relationship with God in Jesus Christ and to discover how their lives may impact the world around them to the glory of God.
"My name is Gabby Waldusky and I am a 17 year old senior from Saint Cloud, MN and attend Atonement Lutheran. I could not be more excited for this Youth Gathering! This will be my first ever and I am beyond thrilled to be experiencing it as an MC. I am excited to share and embrace all of God's work in Detroit, and cannot wait to meet and establish relationships with other youth from all over the country!"
"Hey, my name is Demetrius Dennis. I am 16 and attend Gracious Savior Lutheran Church right here in Detroit. I'm super excited to be one of the MCs for this Gathering! This is my first Gathering, and everyone keeps telling me how amazing it will be! I can't wait to see teens my age from all around the country show their love for God and enjoy doing it. This will definitely make a huge impact on your lives and mine. Can't wait to see you in my home city, Detroit, in just a few short months."
