A service for journalists and members of the news media

The ELCA News Service gathers and disseminates news about the ELCA and its members to church and secular newspapers, and broadcasters. The news staff provides information and recommends key ELCA spokespersons as sources to news organizations. The ELCA News Service staff responds to media inquiries about the church, and its policies and programs, to help reporters write accurate stories about the ELCA. Staff assists church leaders in planning media relations programs.

ELCA News Service staff attends and reports on significant churchwide events and meetings, works with churchwide staff to gather and report news, and monitors news from church agencies, institutions, seminaries and colleges. Staff follows up on news tips from various sources.
