Building churches, hope for communities

Ever wonder how new ELCA congregations are established? It takes a community of dedicated people who want to bring the mission and the ministry of the church to reach more people. It also takes resources. The Mission Investment Fund provides loans for land purchases and building projects – for both new and established congregations, as well as ELCA-related ministries. 2008 "Coming of Age" Lutheran Men's Gathering

"Coming of age" takes at least two meanings for Lutheran Men in Mission (LMM). At 20 years of age LMM is ready to step out on its own, celebrating a new relationship with the ELCA. It's also giving special emphasis to the spirituality of men aged 18 to 34 at its 2008 gathering this summer in Omaha, Neb. The initial draft of the Draft Social Statement on Human Sexuality is now available for ELCA members to download and discuss. Most synods will be conducting hearings on this draft, and all members are encouraged to participate in the hearings and in congregational discussions, and to respond by November 1, 2008. In addition, there is a new youth mini-site with video and forums, and a new discussion group on the LutherLink network.
